About
I’m an office worker with a cubicle job. I like food. I didn’t care for exercise. Combine all of these things together, and I became a typical fat American. I’m 5’11″ with a big frame; even when fit, you wouldn’t call me skinny. Still, I weighed in at 230+ pounds before starting my quest to lose fifty pounds. That put me on the low-end of “obese” on the body mass index chart. Oof.
Losing 50 pounds will bring me to 180. Assuming I’ve packed on a good bit of muscle during the weight loss process, that should mean I’m in the best shape of my life. At my absolute skinniest, I was 165 pounds. That was as a freshman entering college, after a summer of groundskeeping while riding my bike back and forth to work every day. I was active all the time, and was able to do stupid things like eat a dozen donuts for lunch without it affecting my weight. However, I had little upper-body musculature. My legs were the only things built up, simply from hauling myself up hills to get to work and then get back home again.
My weight loss plan is a combination of improved diet, weight-lifting, and cardiovascular exercise. I write maybe a couple of times a week about how things are going, including my hikes in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
Hi,
Congrats on your progress so far. I’m a White Mtn hiker as well. I discovered your site through the Hiking Blogs site. Ours is right above yours. We’re in training as well and using the Whites to attain our goals. Perhaps we can exchange links from our sites? Drop me a email if you’d like to chat about hiking the whites or other things.
